"This reminds me of a Chris Rock skit — where some dad’s try to take credit for doing something they’re SUPPOSED to do:
Examples: “I take CARE of my Kids” or “I’ve never been to jail”.
From a political perspective, Republican’s suggest “We CARE about the constitution” — inferring that Democrat’s do not care about the constitution, and by extension, that democratic policies are not constitution.
Second — it is offers the “association fallacy” whereby Republican’s will use the authoritative power of the constitution, attempt to make it seemingly synonymous with the Republican Party itself — such that the masses begin to equate the policies of the Republican party, as an extension of the constitution itself.
Therefore (the reasoning goes) — a rejection of the Republican party is a rejection of the constitution – an invalid argument, but effectual at swaying the perception of the masses.
